Does Korea have a lost & found?

To the green, green grass of home... tot ziens. The time has come to say farewell to my mini pet-project of the past 3 weeks, also known as an arse-groove on the family sofa. Novelties of driving on the left, buying white chocolate, seeing faces from facebook and indulging in new versions of championship manager soon gave way to mildly confused feelings of normailty.

Now i'm happy to experience, read and realise that normal is based on perspective. So all the weird and wonderful things i've done over the past year are perfectly acceptable as part of a bigger picture. And i'm gonna continue to do more weird and wonderful things.

THINGS I LOST DURING MY YEAR IN KOREA:
Several socks
My mind (on several occasions)
Hair
New Years Eve
A good book i was half-way through
A shopping bag containing 4 new books
Calories
My camera case
A sense of 'home'

THINGS I MISSED DURING MY YEAR IN KOREA:
Family dinners
Family
Friends
The bar scene
Meandering face-to-face conversations with gran
Summertime glasses of Rose
Space
My bus (several times)
Cheap airlines
Various subway stops
An appointment with my dentist
Good air quality
White chocolate
Relative freedom

THINGS I GOT USED TO DURING MY YEAR IN KOREA:
Extreme heat
Severe cold
Writing on a whiteboard
Chopsticks
Children
Excellent public transport
Bowing
Not being able to read
Toned & sexy legs in short skirts
'Full time' wages

I am grateful to quiet English suburbia for staging several family reunions complete with pots of tea and plates of biscuits. The meandering conversations with gran never fail to entertain, inform and produce a smile.

I am blessed by returning favours which entail being a white van man for a day.

I thank the soft & lush grass for replacing the knee-grazing gravel while i played football.

I take pleasure in catching up with friends new & old, and seeing joy on the faces of the little humans some of them are bringing into the world.

And so, here i go again on the next mini-chapter in lifes adventure.
